Jack Daniel’s and McLaren have released their most exclusive and expensive whiskey to date, the Halo MK1 Tennessee Whiskey. Bottled at 117.4 proof and aged in specially treated barrels, this limited-edition release features a unique mashbill and a luxurious bottle design inspired by McLaren’s Formula 1 cars.

A New Level of Premium

Priced at $600, the Halo MK1 represents the most premium global release in Jack Daniel’s history. Over the past few years, Jack Daniel’s has collaborated with McLaren on several limited-edition whiskeys, known for innovative packaging and affordability – typically under $100.

Production and Proof

The Halo MK1 marks a significant departure in both production and price. It is bottled at an impressive 117.4 proof, or 58.7 percent ABV, considerably higher than the standard Old No. 7’s 80 proof. The mashbill remains consistent with Jack Daniel’s traditional recipe—80 percent corn, 8 percent rye, and 12 percent malted barley.

Unique Barrel Aging

The whiskey undergoes a unique aging process utilizing barrels with staves aged in the open air for two to three times longer than usual. This technique aims to soften wood tannins before toasting.

Flavor Profile and Design

Master Distiller Chris Fletcher describes the whiskey as having a complex profile with aromas of sweet maple, fruit, and toasted oak. Flavors include sweet caramel, chocolate, pipe tobacco, and baking spices.

The bottle design incorporates high-end materials such as alloy metal, micro-suede, and carbon fiber print, reflecting the luxury and precision of McLaren’s Formula 1 cars.

Partnership and Availability

Mark Bacon, SVP and Global Managing Director, stated that the Halo MK1 embodies the shared values of innovation, excellence, and ambition. The whiskey is now available for purchase on Jack Daniel’s website, alongside other McLaren collaboration bottles.
