Volkswagen is set to release substantial updates for its popular ID. Buzz electric minivan in 2026, enhancing both its functionality and user experience. These improvements include vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability, the return of physical buttons, and a refined infotainment system.

Key Updates for the 2026 ID. Buzz

Enhanced Functionality & Features

The updated ID. Buzz will feature V2L functionality, allowing it to supply up to 2kW of energy to external devices. This opens possibilities for powering tools, appliances, or camping equipment. The vehicle also boasts an increased towing capacity, especially for the standard-wheelbase version.

Improved Interior & Infotainment

Responding to driver feedback, Volkswagen is replacing touch-sensitive controls on the steering wheel with physical buttons. The infotainment system has been upgraded with a new app store, enabling users to activate or expand vehicle functions and services.

Advanced Driver Assistance

The ID. Buzz will benefit from enhanced driver-assistance features, including a fully-featured one-pedal driving system and an upgraded Connected Travel Assist system capable of automatically recognizing traffic lights. These features aim to provide a more intuitive and safe driving experience.

US Market Excluded from 2026 Updates

Despite these advancements, US buyers will not have access to the 2026 ID. Buzz model. Volkswagen has decided to forego the 2026 model year in the United States, focusing instead on clearing existing 2025 inventory.

European Specifications

The European-spec ID.Buzz Pro will offer a dual-motor all-wheel-drive configuration, delivering 335 horsepower (250 kilowatts) and increasing the maximum towing capacity to 1,800 kilograms (3,968 pounds) for the standard-wheelbase model. The long-wheelbase version will have a slightly reduced towing capacity of 1,600 kg (3,527 pounds).

Battery capacities remain unchanged, with 79 kWh for the short-wheelbase and 86 kWh for the long-wheelbase models. The updated model is scheduled to arrive in showrooms across Europe and the UK this summer.

Volkswagen has not ruled out incorporating these enhancements into a future ID. Buzz model specifically designed for the American market.
