Manthey Racing is now offering a performance upgrade kit for the Porsche 911 GT3, designed to significantly enhance its track capabilities.

Significant Performance Gains

The upgrade, priced at £56 (excluding fitting), is reported to reduce lap times at the Nürburgring by almost three seconds, bringing the GT3’s performance remarkably close to that of the GT3 RS – within four seconds, in fact.

Aerodynamic Enhancements

The performance boost is achieved through extensive modifications to the car’s aerodynamics and suspension. The kit increases downforce to 355kg in road mode and an impressive 540kg in circuit mode. This is accomplished through longer turning vanes, an extended front lip, revised diffuser fins and flaps, and a smoothed underbody.

The iconic swan-neck wing has also been widened with a gurney flap and curved end plates to further optimize airflow.

Suspension Overhaul

Beyond aerodynamics, Manthey Racing has completely overhauled the suspension system. Standard PASM dampers have been replaced with adjustable four-way coilovers, spring rates have been adjusted, and braided steel brake lines have been installed.

On-Road and Track Performance

While the engine remains unchanged, retaining its 503bhp output, the overall result is a car that feels considerably more stable and responsive. Testing on roads in southwest England revealed a thrilling, though firm, driving experience.

The ride isn’t as forgiving as the standard GT3, especially over uneven surfaces, but it improves with increased speed. The car demonstrates a remarkable ability to absorb road imperfections at higher velocities, providing unwavering grip and control.

Steering is noticeably sharper and more direct, enhancing the connection between driver and road. A minor issue was noted with the brake pedal lacking desired firmness, potentially due to prior track use.

A Compelling Upgrade for Enthusiasts

Despite this minor point, the Manthey-tuned GT3 delivers an immersive and engaging driving experience, offering exceptional feel and responsiveness. The upgrades transform the already capable GT3 into a true track weapon, while remaining surprisingly usable on public roads.
