The 19th Annual Festival of the Kid will be held on May 2nd and 3rd at the Russell Theatre in Fort Worth, Texas. The festival celebrates the creativity of young playwrights and performers aged 8 to 18.

A Showcase of Young Talent

This year’s festival features 30 plays, scenes, and monologues all written and performed by local students. The event is organized by NBC 5, Telemundo 39, and Stage West Theatre.

Performance Schedule

The festival offers two distinct shows each day. The Youth Show, a 30-minute performance, begins at 2:00 p.m. and features works by elementary school students. The Teen Show, a 90-minute performance with a PG-13 rating, starts at 5:00 p.m. and showcases the talents of high school students.

Neighborhood Play Contest & Support

The plays presented at the Festival of the Kid were selected from Stage West’s 2025 Neighborhood Play Contest. This contest encourages young writers to develop their storytelling skills.

Stage West Theatre provides resources and support for emerging talent through initiatives like the Neighborhood Play Contest and grant funding.

Event Details

The Lobby Cafe will be open from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. and during intermissions, offering a limited menu of refreshments. The same lineup of performances will be presented on both days, May 2nd and May 3rd.
